A relationship between rational and multi-soliton solutions of the BKP hierarchy

    Get PDF
We consider a special class of solutions of the BKP hierarchy which we call τ\tau-functions of hypergeometric type. These are series in Schur QQ-functions over partitions, with coefficients parameterised by a function of one variable ξ\xi, where the quantities ξ(k)\xi(k), kZ+k\in\mathbb{Z^+}, are integrals of motion of the BKP hierarchy. We show that this solution is, at the same time, a infinite soliton solution of a dual BKP hierarchy, where the variables ξ(k)\xi(k) are now related to BKP higher times. In particular, rational solutions of the BKP hierarchy are related to (finite) multi-soliton solution of the dual BKP hierarchy. The momenta of the solitons are given by the parts of partitions in the Schur QQ-function expansion of the τ\tau-function of hypergeometric type. We also show that the KdV and the NLS soliton τ\tau-functions coinside the BKP τ\tau-functions of hypergeometric type, evaluated at special point of BKP higher time; the variables ξ\xi (which are BKP integrals of motions) being related to KdV and NLS higher times

    The relation between a 2D Lotka-Volterra equation and a 2D Toda lattice

It is shown that the 2-discrete dimensional Lotka-Volterra lattice, the two dmensional Toda lattice equation and the recent 2-discrete dimensional Toda lattice equation of Santini et al can be obtained from a 2-discrete 2-continuous dimensional Lotka-Volterra lattice

    A bilinear approach to a Pfaffian self-dual Yang-Mills equation

By using the bilinear technique of soliton theory, a pfaffian version of the SU(2) self-dual Yang-Mills equation and its solution is constructed

A direct approach to the ultradiscrete KdV equation with negative

    Get PDF
A generalisation of the ultra-discrete KdV equation is investigated using a direct approach. We show that evolution through one time step serves to reveal the entire solitonic content of the system

Yang-Baxter maps and the discrete KP hierarchy

    Get PDF
We present a systematic construction of the discrete KP hierarchy in terms of Sato–Wilson-type shift operators. Reductions of the equations in this hierarchy to 1+1-dimensional integrable lattice systems are considered, and the problems that arise with regard to the symmetry algebra underlying the reduced systems as well as the ultradiscretizability of these systems are discussed. A scheme for constructing ultradiscretizable reductions that give rise to Yang–Baxter maps is explained in two explicit examples

Classification of 3-dimensional integrable scalar discrete equations

We classify all integrable 3-dimensional scalar discrete quasilinear equations Q=0 on an elementary cubic cell of the 3-dimensional lattice. An equation Q=0 is called integrable if it may be consistently imposed on all 3-dimensional elementary faces of the 4-dimensional lattice. Under the natural requirement of invariance of the equation under the action of the complete group of symmetries of the cube we prove that the only nontrivial (non-linearizable) integrable equation from this class is the well-known dBKP-system. (Version 2: A small correction in Table 1 (p.7) for n=2 has been made.) (Version 3: A few small corrections: one more reference added, the main statement stated more explicitly.)Comment: 20 p. Darboux Transformations for a Lax Integrable System in 2n2n-Dimensions

A 2n2n-dimensional Lax integrable system is proposed by a set of specific spectral problems. It contains Takasaki equations, the self-dual Yang-Mills equations and its integrable hierarchy as examples. An explicit formulation of Darboux transformations is established for this Lax integrable system. The Vandermonde and generalized Cauchy determinant formulas lead to a description for deriving explicit solutions and thus some rational and analytic solutions are obtained.Comment: Latex, 14 pages, to be published in Lett. Notes on Exact Multi-Soliton Solutions of Noncommutative Integrable Hierarchies

    Get PDF
We study exact multi-soliton solutions of integrable hierarchies on noncommutative space-times which are represented in terms of quasi-determinants of Wronski matrices by Etingof, Gelfand and Retakh. We analyze the asymptotic behavior of the multi-soliton solutions and found that the asymptotic configurations in soliton scattering process can be all the same as commutative ones, that is, the configuration of N-soliton solution has N isolated localized energy densities and the each solitary wave-packet preserves its shape and velocity in the scattering process. The phase shifts are also the same as commutative ones. Furthermore noncommutative toroidal Gelfand-Dickey hierarchy is introduced and the exact multi-soliton solutions are given.Comment: 18 pages, v3: references added, version to appear in JHE
